    a grand weekend indeed
Friday night, Patrick and I went to Chinatown and met up with my friend Lindsay and her boyfriend. We had a yummy dinner at Matchbox and then headed to Dupont for drinks and dancing. It was a lot of fun and nice to be able to get out to the city. I also got my hair cut before hand. I got 3 inches taken off and had her angle my hair. It looks cute and so much better. Saturday I got caught up on some sleep and did some grocery shopping. I had [info]j3llybellybean and [info]dirtntrees and Patrick coming over for dinner. I made a yummy chicken artichoke dip, cranberry chicken, noodles and broccoli. It was a yummy dinner and I enjoyed playing hostess. JBB brought some yummy brownies too! We had a blast playing the game Pick Up Lines. I haven't laughed so hard in a long time. Sunday morning, I said goodbye to Patrick who was leaving for Atlanta on business. He'll be back Tuesday night. I spent the day lounging around and watching the Redskins game. It was nice to have an evening and day all to myself. I also went shopping at Target too. I hope this week goes by fast.

    3 day weekends rock!
Friday night, Patrick and I headed over to [info]j3llybellybean's for Game Night. We had a blast playing various games with JBB, [info]dirtntrees, [info]palleon and [info]blue_eyes82. I did pretty well at Apples to Apples and a few of us want to get together sometime for a Scattergories night. Saturday morning, we woke up early and I drove us to the Maryland Renissance Festival up in Annapolis, MD. JBB, DNT and I had gone last year and had a blast. This year was even more awesome. We watched the boys play some games, drank some mead, saw an awesome comedy show, laughed at the people in costume, and ate awesome foods on a stick. Patrick and I were exhausted by the time we got home and just ordered some dinner in and watched a movie. Sunday morning, Patrick played golf and I did a few errands. I made DNT's mac and cheese for lunch. It turned out awesome! We watched the Redskins game and I enjoyed the victory. I got to see my sister Sunday night. I went to bed early that night, as I was so tired. Monday morning, I enjoyed sleeping in and getting paid for not going into work. Go federal holidays! Patrick and I did a little shopping then hit the driving range at Top Golf. We had a relaxing dinner with my fam and called it a night. I had such a great 3 day weekend. I'm actually ready to get back into the normal week routine tomorrow. This coming weekend will be a great one too. Hope everyone had a great weekend!

    scrabble, books, and balls
What a fabulous weekend! Friday night, I went to Pentagon City mall with Patrick. We did a little shopping and then picked up some yummy chinese food for dinner. After dinner, I proceeded to beat Patrick in a friendly game of scrabble. I got a score of 301. I got to bed at a reasonable hour and headed to the metro early Saturday morning. I met up with one other girl on the Mall in dc for the National Book Festival. It was really neat and there were tons of people there. Afterwards, I came home and made those famous sausage and cheese balls to take to [info]palleon's birthday party that night. The party was awesome! [info]j3llybellybean, [info]blue_eyes82 and I did some yummy blow job shots. It was great to see [info]brocklisoup and [info]jymferrier. Brock's girlfriend is awesome and I give her props for being able to do the blow job shot off the counter. That girl's got skill! I was really tired from a long day and called it an early night. We drove [info]dirtntrees to get his car and gave him our parking pass. Sunday morning, Patrick and I layed around the house for a good portion of the morning. I haven't been able to put the new Nicholas Sparks book down. I am almost done with it. I have a busy work week coming up, but look forward to game night on friday and the renissance festival on Saturday. Hope everyone had a grand weekend.

    a mountain getaway
I had one of the most relaxing weekends in quite some time. Friday after work, Patrick picked me up and we headed to Deep Creek, MD for his annual reunion with all his high school friends. They had rented a huge lake house for the weekend that sits right on top of a mountain. The place was amazing with 8 bedrooms, 6 bathrooms, an indoor pool, hot tub and sauna. Laura hit all 3 of them! It was so nice being away from civilization and just relaxing and enjoying the scenery. We got back home Sunday afternoon and watched the Redskins game. We also walked around the Burke Festival and visited [info]j3llybellybean and [info]dirtntrees who were helping Mr. Bean sell his coins. I am so excited about tomorrow night. Patrick and I are going to see Mandy Moore at the Birchmere in Alexandria. I've never been there and am looking forward to a great concert. Another great weekend is coming up and I get to see my sister who will be in town for the VA Wine Festival. Horray!

    movie, birthday, and books
Oh what an awesome weekend it has been! Friday night, I headed out to Gallery Place to meet up with some girls for dinner at McCormick and Schmicks. I had never been there and was kinda surprised by the prices. I got a cup of soup and salad which filled me up. After dinner, we headed to the movie theatre and met up with about 15 other girls to watch the Nanny Diaries. It was a cute movie that followed the book fairly well. However, I still liked the book a lot better. After the movie, I went to Clyde's with a few girls for a drink. By the time I got home, it was 2:30 and I passed out. Saturday, I spent the day running errands, getting a pedicure and making Tortellini Salad for the night. At 4:30, [info]j3llybellybean and [info]dirtntrees picked me up and we headed to Woodbridge for Miss Brooke's birthday/housewarming party. They grilled up some yummy burgers and hot dogs and the booze started flowin. I played flip cup, which I haven't played in a good year. I did fairly well, considering I was drinking bacardi green apple. Patrick arrived around 9 and we chatted for a bit. I got really tired and we headed back to my place around 10. I literally passed out when we got home and was able to catch up on some much-needed sleep. Sunday afternoon, I drove over to Patrick's and he kindly dropped me off at the metro. I headed back to DC for my book club meeting at Clyde's. Only 3 girls showed up, but we had a nice discussion and yummy lunch. I headed back to Patrick's afterwards where we just hung out and watched the Game Show Network for a bit. I just love Family Feud and Who Wants to be a Millionare. It's a guilty pleasure! I then went home and had a yummy dinner of hamburgers that my dad cooked on the grill. I spent the night organizing all of my school stuff into a nice file container. I also cleaned my room so I can now walk around better in it. This is the last week of summer camp at work. It's kinda sad to leave this bunch of kids but at the same time, I'm ready for a new bunch. We are having an ice cream party on Wednesday and Thursday. Friday, I am taking off work and heading down to North Carolina for my cousin's wedding. I'll be back Sunday afternoon. Hope everyone had a great weekend!

    pizza, program and toasts
It has been another fun weekend. Friday night, [info]j3llybellybean picked me up after work and we headed to [info]fallnangel1102's place for a Girls Night In. We ordered some yummy pizza and had salad, fruit and brownies too! It was so nice just sitting around chatting and catching up on what's going on in everyones lives. We all were getting pretty tired while watching The Holiday, and called it an early night.

Saturday morning, I woke up early and got all pretty for the Spring Program. My 3 yr olds, along with all the other kids in our building, got on stage and sung songs they'd been practicing. All the parents were there to watch. This was my first spring program and I thought it went really smoothly. Afterwards, JBB, DNT, Brooke, Gustavo and I went to lunch at Chili's. Miss Brooke ordered a margarita to celebrate the end of the school year. I didn't want her drinking alone, so I had one too! We also saw our old co-worker who works there. It was kinda awkward, but we chatted with her for a bit. As we were finishing lunch, I got a text from [info]fallnangel1102 asking if I wanted to go shopping with her. Now when does Laura pass up a shopping adventure? NEVER! I go home to lay down for a bit and then meet up with Danielle at the mall. I got a cute red going-out shirt that ties in the back from the Limited. Danielle got some nice work clothes. While shopping, [info]ariesgirl384 calls and invites us to dinner in Chinatown with her and Megan. We convince Danielle to go and decide we must finish up shopping so we can go back to my place to change real quick. We had a nice quiet dinner at RFD but got freaked out when we saw 2 mice crawling near the bar inside the restaurant! I am not a fan of mice and totally flipped! We quickly paid our bill and bolted out of there. I motioned we head to The Rocket Bar for drinks. Shots started flowin and I began feeling the rum and diets. Many toasts were made to the "Singles Club". I vowed with [info]ariesgirl384 to make it a great summer living it up single-style.

Danielle and I were waiting for the metro at Gallery Place and I get a call from my high school friend Elena who is in town visiting from NC. She was at JBB's house and I told her to stay there and that I'd be there in 40 min. I got there around 1am and got all caught up with Elena. It was so great having the 3 Bobs back together! I started falling asleep on Kt's couch and called it a night at 2am.

This morning I woke up at 11am and lounged for a bit. My dad opened his Father's day gift which was an IPod Nano. I'm going to show him how to add songs, etc tonight. He really liked it! I ran some errands and plan on making myself an apple martini in a bit. My mom made Pot roast and mashed potatoes for dinner tonight. It smells yummy! Hope everyone had a great weekend! We must do more girls nights when everyone is in town.

    cooking and final birthday celebration
I am totally exhausted after a crazy weekend. Friday night I did Let's Dish with the meetup girls in Fairfax. It was expensive but I got to make 8 meals to take home and freeze. It was a nice low-key event for the night. Saturday, I got my mani, pedi and eyebrows done. I also went to Lakeshore to get some stuff for work. Around 6:30, [info]j3llybellybean and [info]dirtntrees picked me up and we headed off to the Springfield metro. We met up with Lindsay there and began our journey to Dupont Circle for my birthday celebration. We got to Gallery Place and met up with [info]ritkirby, [info]pi_girl, Megan and Tim. We all got on the Red line and got off at Dupont. Getting onto the escalator, JBB spots [info]palleon and [info]blue_eyes82. Horray! We all walk to the restaurant together and arrive just on time. We see [info]clumsilystated and Adam, along with [info]ariesgirl384. Danielle also arrives and we begin the evening. We are seated at our long table and order some drinks. The food there was amazing! My only problem was we were in very tight quarters and the room was extremely hot. Despite that, I think everyone had a good time.

Afterwards, we said goodbye to some and the rest of us headed to Front Page. The place was pretty dead when we got there, but the music started up and we danced some. There weren't many people dancing that night, which is kinda weird. Megan motioned we move to Rumors and we all agreed to try it out. Rumors was packed with people and it took forever to get a drink. I met this guy and we danced and made out some. He was a real sleezebag though, trying to pull up my dress. Asshole! Chris pulled me away and we called it a night. I got home around 3:30 and crashed. Woke up at 1:30 in the afternoon. The library had my book on hold so I had to go pick it up along with a few other things at Giant. I plan on just relaxing the rest of the day. It's rainy outside and I don't like going out in the rain.

Thanks to everyone who came out and helped me celebrate this weekend! Your presence meant so much to me. I'm so lucky to have all of you in my life.

    Birthday Festivities Rounds 2, 3, and 4
I can't believe how much I did this weekend. The past 3 days have been jam packed with events and I've finally gotten the chance to update everyone with what has been going on in my life. Friday night, I went to see the Reflex play with [info]clumsilystated, Megan, Danielle (gotta get your LJ name), [info]ariesgirl384 and others. Danielle, Megan and I wanted to go dancing instead so we headed to the Clarendon Ballroom. They had good music and we had fun dancing. I didn't get home until 2:30am and was exhausted.

Saturday morning, my sister came home for a visit. We got caught up and I just did some things around the house. That night, my mom, dad, sister and I went to Maggianos for my birthday dinner. This is my fave Italian restaurant in the area. They have family-style which is sooo good. We had appetizers, salad, pasta, chicken, and dessert. Now that my sis is 21 we ordered cocktails and a bottle of wine for the table. It was a delicious meal! Allison and I were supposed to go out for drinks afterwards, but we were both too tired. We got our jammies on and just watched some tv and went to bed early.

Sunday morning, my dad made yummy blueberry pancakes and sausage for breakfast. It was delicious! I needed to go shopping and get some things and [info]j3llybellybean and [info]dirtntrees were nice enough to go to the mall with me. We hit up the Old Navy and I bought some much-needed t-shirts for the summer. I got a low-cut strapless bra to wear with my dress and some yummy candles and bath stuff too. It was a very girly shopping trip! That night, my sister had some friends over for dinner. My dad made eye-round beef that he marinades and cooks on a rotissere over the grill. I helped my mom make hashbrowns, kidney bean salad, and zucchini pie. The meal was very yummy and we toasted my bday again with some sparkling wine! Now, knowing that I didn't have to work on Monday, I wanted to go out on the town. We had a thunderstorm and I didn't really want to chance going into DC, so plans were made to go check out a new club in Fairfax called Rain. It was very swanky and fun. JBB and DNT accompanied me and we had a grand time. JBB and I did a shot at midnight to celebrate my actual bday.

Monday morning, (my real birthday) I woke up around 10 and had some breakfast. My mom came home from the gym and I opened my presents from my parents. They got me Will and Grace on DVD, a wine bottle opener, and some money. I felt very special. I then made my pasta salad that I was taking to a BBQ later in the afternoon. Since I felt like I'd gained 10 pounds this weekend, I hit the gym for a bit. Around 2:30, I picked up JBB and Chris and we headed to Megan's for a BBQ. We all sat outside and had some yummy burgers, pasta salad, broccoli salad, and other goodies. Megan was so sweet and bought me a cake. Steph gave me this cute book by Mr. Rogers who I love! I am so grateful to have such wonderful friends who care about me. Love you guys so much! :) Thank you for making my birthday so special.

After the BBQ, I headed home and decided to tackle the horrible chore of putting all my winter clothes away and taking out the summer clothes. This whole process took me about 2 hours, which included reorganizing 2 closets and my dresser drawers. My room looks so much better though and it was well worth it. I'm totally exhausted and can't believe everything I did this weekend. The big birthday festivity Round 5 will be this coming Saturday. I can't wait for the yummy dinner and fun afterwards!

    Birthday Festivities Round 1
Today I celebrated my bday at work. I came in and was greeted by my kids with a big sign that said "Happy Birthday Miss Laura", 3 ballons and a crown. I felt so special! My favorite child, Kiera told me she loved me and gave me a bday hug. At lunch time, my 2 bosses came in and sang happy bday and gave me a mini cheesecake and a card signed my the whole staff. I then went into my other room where my co-workers gave me a giant cookie cake and sang happy bday. They also gave me a funny card and a gift certificate to get my nails done! :) I felt so loved! All of the kids were giving me hugs and wishing me a happy birthday. It was a great way to top off the week. Oh, and I also got my paycheck today.

Tonight I'm going to see the Reflex with the girls which will be awesome! I'm hoping to meet some cute boys. Tomorrow, I am going to the mall and getting a few things. hehe My sis is coming home tomorrow too! :)

    Camping Adventures
The weekend finally arrived for camping at Assateague Island. Friday night was spent packing and making sure I had everything for the big trip. I watched some Will and Grace on dvd and called it an early night. Saturday morning, [info]j3llybellybean and [info]dirtntrees picked me up, stopped at Starbucks and hit the road. We had a fun trip and made great time thanks to Sunny! We arrived and met up with Liz and Josh, [info]pi_girl, Kirby, [info]ariesgirl384, Danielle, and others. DNT helped me set up my tent which turned out to be a massive work of art. He coined it "The Taj Mahal". Unfortunately, [info]clumsilystated didn't make it and there were only 3 of us in this 6 person tent. It was glorious! We all took our folding chairs and headed down to the beach. I had my drink and camera and enjoyed soaking in the rays and chatting with people.

Now, Liz had brought along her roomate who is also her ex-boyfriend. His name is Joe. I had no idea that Joe was so hot and totally my type! I asked Liz if it was ok if I went after Joe, just for a little fling. She had no problems with it. Joe and I proceeded to get fairly drunk and we were very flirtatious. There was lots of making out and feeling up. It was awesome. He also cuddled with me around the campfire. We had yummy hot dogs and smores.

Sunday morning, everyone gathered for some breakfast and then started packing up cars. It was sad to say goodbye as we all had such a great time! Joe and I didn't exchange numbers or anything, but that was ok with me. He lives in Maryland and was a real asshole to Liz when she was dating him. Oh wells! The trip home was a long one due to the traffic from Ocean City people. JBB kept us entertained with her 80's cds. I came home and it felt so good to shower and scrub my feet. I feel all clean and must get ready to start another work week. I'm hoping to meet up with my cousin Fri night for a night out in DC. She's hoping to be visiting from Boston. My sis is coming home Sat morning for my bday celebration! Should be fun.

    dancing, books, pool and mom's!
It has been quite a whirlwind weekend for me. It started Friday night with a Girl's night out at Rumors for drinks and dancing. We had so much fun and met some nice people. Saturday afternoon, I met up with my book club and we had a great discussion. I got back home and spent some quality time with my sister who was visiting for the weekend. She starts her summer classes tomorrow and won't be able to come see me for my birthday. Saturday night, I went over to Miss Brooke and Gustavo's for a night out. Brooke introduced me to her friend Vic who was really nice. We went to Fast Eddies and played darts and pool. I totally sucked at darts and pool but had fun. We had some drinks and shots then headed back to their apartment for a competitive game of Scattergories. Gustavo made me a really strong drink which got me pretty drunk. I wasn't even planning on drinkin that much, but it just kinda happened. I'm hoping Vic calls me and we can go out again some time. He's a really nice guy.

Sunday morning, my sister woke me up. My dad had made pancakes for a special Mother's Day breakfast. I got my mom a nice waterbottle and made her a mix cd of her fave songs. She loved the cd! I thought it was a nice personal touch for me. I kinda lounged around the house for a while and then headed to Tysons with my mom. I had to get a new battery for my watch and more perfume from Victoria's Secret. We stopped in to New York and Co. because they were having a big mother's day sale. I got 2 shirts that were buy 1, get one 1/2 off. I also got a really pretty green and white sundress. We then headed home and made some pasta salad to have with dinner. My dad grilled steaks and we had spinach too. Allison headed back to school after dinner. I'm not sure when I'll be seeing her next since she'll be busy working and taking summer classes. We are hoping to plan a trip up to Niagara Falls in July to visit my grandparents and family.

It has been a grand weekend and I now need to get ready for another work week. Only 6 more days until camping!! I need to start getting stuff together.

    drinks, dancing and dave's
Friday afternoon, I left work early to go to a job interview. I met with my elementary school principal who is now at another school. He asked me questions and then gave me feedback and buzz words to use when interviewing. He said I have a lot to offer and was very impressed with my answers. He told me to email him when I have an interview and he will be happy to email the school's principal and recommend me. It's all about who you know and I think this will be a good plus for me.

I was supposed to go out to dinner with Tim (guy I met last weekend) on Fri night. He ends up sending me a text at like 5pm saying he had a long week at work and had to help his mom with things around the house since she just had surgery. I'm hoping to meet up with him next weekend. I was kinda bummed because I had been looking forward to it. Luckily, Danielle and Megan told me they'd go out with me. We hit up Rumors in Dupont which was awesome! I think I've deemed it my new fave place. They had great music, fairly cheap drinks and fun dancing. Oh and there were lots of cute guys there. I met one guy named Ken who I danced with a lot. We exchanged numbers and texts. Hope to meet up with him again sometime. I didn't get home until 3:30am and crashed.

I woke up Sat morning, ate some breakfast, took some medicine for my headache and fell back asleep. I ended up doing a few things around the house, and then got ready to head out for the night. At 6pm, [info]j3llybellybean and [info]dirtntrees picked me up and we headed to Dave and Busters to celebrate Marissa and Kati's birthdays. Dinner was yummy and I had a delicious strawberry banana margarita. Everyone at the table had a shot called the Big Oh, in honor of our friend Henry. It was quite the fun evening. I got my skeeball and trivia fix and won some fun prizes. I got home around 12 and called it a night.

I ended up waking up at 11:30 Sunday morning, which is very late for me. I must have been a sleepy girl. I relaxed around the house for a bit then headed out to do some errands. I went to Ross and got some cute going-out shirts to wear. They were only about $8 each which is awesome! I then stopped at the party store in search of a button to wear for my bday party. I want one that says "It's my birthday! Buy me a shot." I had no luck but may look online to see if I can find one. Anyhow, I'm headed to church in a bit then home for dinner with the fam. Hope everyone had a great weekend!

    another fun-filled weekend
This whole work week has been really busy. My kids have been wired all week with tons of energy and I was really looking forward to the weekend. Friday afternoon, I got a call from Danielle who was wondering if I wanted to meet her for dinner. I met her at The Cheesecake Factory in Fair Oaks mall for dinner. They just opened at this location and it was really good. I had a yummy chicken caesar salad and we sat at the bar and had a drink too. Unfortunately, [info]ariesgirl384 was feeling under the weather and wasn't able to go out that night. So, I relaxed at home that night with some good Will and Grace episodes and called it an early night.

Saturday morning, I woke up early and well rested. I decided to go to the 9am step class at the gym. I hadn't done this class in a long time and it was really refreshing and fun. I came home, showered and then hit up Kohls with my mom. I got 3 cute going-out shirts and some new sunglasses. My mom had to buy bridal shower gifts for 4 people so we had a blast looking at all the kitchen stuff and picking things out. Mom even treated me to Starbucks afterwards. I went to church that night and then headed out to pick up [info]j3llybellybean and [info]dirtntrees for our Dave and Busters adventure. We arrived at D&B a little early and decided to go ahead and get our power cards. We then met up with [info]ariesgirl384, Todd, and Rolando. Everyone else had bailed on us but we all were determined to have fun. Rolando, being the nice guy that he is, gave me all of his tickets. I kicked some major ass at the Super Trivia game and had fun playing Skee Ball. At the end of the night, I cashed in my tickets and won: a D&B pub glass, a shot glass, a tinkerbell keychain, and a fabulous Hello Kitty Pez dispenser. When we finally left the place it was about 11pm and we were pretty hungry. So, DNT, JBB and I headed to the Silver Diner which was packed with lots of people and annoying tenny boppers. The food was good and satisfied my hunger. Got home around 1am and crashed.

I couldn't believe my eyes when I looked at the clock this morning. I woke up at noon. That means I slept for a good 10.5 hours. I must have been really tired. I decided to lounge around in my jammies for most of the afternoon and watched CMT and Teen Witch on tv. It has been pouring rain outside all day and I haven't been motivated to go outside. However, I may make a special yummy dessert and have to stop at Giant. Hope everyone had a great weekend. :)
